“Informed design. Is there a Rosetta Stone for biomaterials?”

The use of natural and man-made materials has influenced healthcare for centuries but their discovery has often been serendipitous. With an increasing insight to the interplay between biological systems and material as well as rapid advances in computing science we are now at the exciting position to combine all of this knowledge to have informed knowledge when choosing materials for medical applications. In this presentation, I will show the recent evolution of materials and the current models we are developing to make smarter assessment and design of new materials using nanotechnology, machine learning and super resolution microscopy.
