The dominating part of electron injection from the transition metal complex Ru(dcbpy)<sub>2</sub>(NCS)<sub>2</sub> into a titanium dioxide nanocrystalline film proceeds extremely rapidly from the initially populated, vibronically nonthermalized, singlet excited state of the molecule.
