“A Chip Odyssey” – how Taiwan became the world leader in semiconductors
Film screening of A Chip Odyssey, the story of the Taiwanese semiconductor miracle.
Taiwan is a world leader in semiconductors, with 60% of the world's chip foundry production and 90% of the market for the most advanced semiconductors. But how did this happen? The story is told in the film A Chip Odyssey (造山者), which tells of the semiconductor pioneer Hu Ding-Hwa and the Taiwanese technicians who went to the United States during the 70’s to learn about semiconductors as a strategy to secure Taiwan’s future.
The film will be screened in collaboration with the Chinese language division on the 8th of May, 17.30–20.30, at the Centre for Languages and Literature: Auditorium H104
