Pre-defence seminar with Fabio Taddei
Fabio Taddei (NEST, Instituto Nanoscienze-CNR and Scuola Normale Superiore, Pisa, Italy), who is opponent at Simon’s defense, will give a presentation with the title:
Thermoelectric and thermal transport in hybrid superconducting systems
Abstract:
Thermodynamic uncertainty relations (TURs) assess the minimal dissipation required to generate an output current with minimum relative uncertainty. In this talk, I am interested in the TURs formulated for electric and thermal transport in the steady-state regime for a system containing superconducting regions. First, I will discuss TURs in the linear-response regime for steady-state transport in two-terminal systems when time reversal symmetry is broken. Second, I will study the violation of TURs in hybrid systems consisting of one superconducting and two normal leads coupled to a central region containing localized levels, focusing on the role of quantum coherence. Finally, I will briefly mention a proposal for an electronic refrigerator based on a ballistic Andreev interferometer.
