Research:

Investigating frequency stabilization of lasers using the Slow Light effect. A very large reduction in group velocity of light can be obtained in certain rare earth ion doped materials through spectral engineering and this is thought to reduce the frequency noise originating from Brownian motion of atoms in the mirrors of a Fabry–Pérot cavity.
