In a recent podcast made by Areej Al-Sabban from Lund University Global Engagement, we can hear Adam Burke, associate professor in Solid State Physics and outreach coordinator for NanoLund, talk to Patrik Nilsson, a PhD student and student representative on the NanoLund board, and Pratik Bhagwat, a current Master's student in Photonics and a student member and volunteer for NanoLund.
“We are leaving the blurry picture of what nanoscience is and what it’s doing. We have all these different backgrounds, but we have a lot in common, too – and we can do great things together if we work across scientific boundaries, and make that make sense to people,” says Adam Burke in the podcast.
An open and accepting community
He also points out the efforts to open up opportunities to students, not only by having an open and accepting community, but also by offering scholarships and funding, as well as collaborations with the industry.
Together with Patrik Nilsson and Pratik Bhagwat, he discusses the many facets of NanoLund, from its impact as a centre for nanoscience research and education to the social events and connections that help to support the student members through their studies and their research projects, as well as events and other opportunities that can enrich student members’ studies and skills.
