Access and new user orientation
Our open research facility is available to academic research groups, start-ups, and company users. We are equipped to guide you, step by step, on how to start using the Lund Nano Lab.
Lund Nano Lab introduction and safety course
The Lund Nano Lab staff provides a dedicated introduction and safety course for all new lab users: comprehensive training for how to work safely in the clean room environment at Lund Nano Lab (LNL). This is a requirement for all users: academic, Myfab, small/medium enterprise, and company users – except those who already completed a corresponding introduction course at another Myfab entity. After attending the introduction course, you will get access to the lab and your account on LIMS – the Laboratory Information and Management System.

Tool-specific training and start booking tools
Once authorized by the responsible tool owner, you can book individual tools in LIMS. Contact the tool responsible (detailed in LIMS with the tool description) to arrange training. If in doubt, ask the Head of the Laboratory, Luke Hankin.
Fees
Access to the lab, some basic tools, and common consumable materials are included in a monthly access fee. Tool usage is usually charged by the hour. The tool rate per hour depends on the type/complexity of the tool and a consideration of the consumables.
- Company users are charged according to the standard tariff for tools (tool-specific).
- Small and medium enterprise users enjoy a discounted tariff structure for the first 2 years to help them get started. SMEs may also be eligible for units of free access via the Myfab National Access scheme.
- Academic and Myfab users are eligible for further subsidised tool rates.
Contact Head of Laboratory, Luke Hankin, for up-to-date tool rates for your project and any other questions.
Contracts and projects
All LNL users must have insurance to use the lab. A contract is needed for all external companies. Contact the Head of the Laboratory to arrange one. Academic and Myfab users do not need contracts.
Academic and Myfab users ask their supervisor for project details and inform the Head of the Laboratory. Company users contact the Head of the Laboratory to set up a new project after a contract is signed.
ID Card for lab access
Academic and Myfab users can use their Lund University card or Myfab entity ID card. Cards will be activated for lab access after attending an LNL introduction course. Company users can contact the Head of the Laboratory for instructions on how to get a ”company” ID card. Student ID cards are not acceptable.
